Guardianship

A guardian is a person appointed by the court to be responsible for the personal affairs of a minor or protected person. While a minor is a person under eighteen years of age, a guardian may also be appointed for an individual over the age of eighteen that lacks the capacity to meet the essential requirements for his or her health, care, safety, habilitation, or therapeutic needs without the assistance or protection of a guardian.
